Katie Couric will now intone the news in the chair once occupied by Walter Cronkite.
Shouldn't it be mandatory for a news anchor to have at least a few shreds of dignity, of gravitas.
Or at the very least to have a name more like Katherine. The Bush cult would at least feel right at home with that name.
I just can't quite wrap my mind around hearing "This is Katie Couric with the CBS Evening News". It sounds like a Saturday Night Live lead in.
That she is an unabashed cheerleader in the right wing echo chamber is to be expected given that we're talking about US network news but couldn't she also be, you know, a serious person?
Good Night and Good Luck.
