Auditor General Michael Ferguson is preparing to blast the Department of National Defence for its handling of the F-35 stealth fighter program in a report to be released next month, the National Post is reporting.
The first draft of the report has been delivered to the department and is said to accuse the military of misleading Parliament, according to sources who have spoken to the newspaper.

The writing has been on the wall for YEARS on this thing. That's a lot of planning/bidding time lost with a ticking clock on the Hornet airframe.

Combat pilot training :
Do not forget that the F-35A acquisition will end the capacity for Canada to train
their own combat pilots at Cold Lake's 410 "Cougar" Squadron currently equipped
with twin seaters CF-18B Hornets.
From the start of the JSF/F-35 multinational project it was decided that combat
pilots training for all countries involved would be set in Usa at Eglin Air Base,
Florida.
If Canada choose the Boeing F-18E/F Super Hornet this will permit to continue
the proud tradition of training our own combat pilots at Cold Lake's 410 "Cougar"
Squadron then equipped with twin seaters F-18F Super Hornet.
