Goosebumps . . .

UK'S DAILY MAIL has a fascinating report, about an exceptional 36 year-old Russian, Natalia Avseenko, who is amazingly aquatic, as you see below. That's -1° C water, by the way. Why is she starkers? That's the way the belugas want it.

Reading the source article, there appears to be a focus on Nakednakednaked!!!11!. The woman is one of the world's most accomplished free divers and it's nakednakednaked.

The entire media world is a 12 year old with magazines stashed under the mattress. Cue the jokes about breath holding.

The idea of sticking belugas in an amusement park tank after being 'tamed' is tossed in as a mere bagatelle of article filler.

There's little question that the Daily Mail is rather poorly focused on the science. NA is, as noted, a woman of remarkable accomplishment in her own right. She seems to have a certain strength of will and character.

As for the diving with belugas? If I could swim like her, I'd do it in a heartbeat!

She's very smart, very fit, and very nude and doing something extraordinary that combines all of those things. This is a pretty compelling combination to some of us.

Niles is right, it's a way for elderly, religious, conservative folk in the UK to stare at a naked woman without having to admit to their voyeurism, cos it's science.

(sorry, buggered something up)

Boris, I think the photos in the collection are art and she comes across as a stunning model of physique in the compositions of light, etc.

What annoyed me(I am biased because I think free diving is an awesome living link to humans prehistory; discovered it years ago while google geeking 'how long can a human hold its breath' to answer a bet) they totally ignored how she can swim like that beyond mumbled hand waving about 'yogic breathing', oh, and nakednakednaked. They might as well have said 'tantric sex with dolphins' like they were in a Frantics sketch having *uuuurges*.

That doesn't even get started on the belugas' plight. 'Look over there! A Naked Woman! Pay no attention to the marine mammals being abducted for no damn good reason! They're being tamed like unicorns! By a Naked Woman! And smiling!

And we wonder why people are not being well informed on things that affect their lives by the majority of publically available media.
