Is there actually a lack of air power in Afghanistan? Not really.

Impolitical raises an interesting question.

However, not all is as it seems. There is a longer stretch to the story and some interesting twists along the road to the decision which led to the current Canadian involvement in Afghanistan.

There was also something of a "lively" discussion back in 2004/05 regarding how much involvement Canada should have in the Afghanistan mission and one of the considerations was: how much of Canada's domestic defence contingency force can we afford to move halfway around the world?

And then there was the cost.
