Shorter Cal Thomas: Why bother with the definition of torture? We have Jack Bauer and the ratings will tell us what's moral.
Verbatim Cal Thomas:
It is not coincidental that the trailer for the new season of the TV series "24" features Jack Bauer testifying before a congressional committee on the subject of torture. Bauer is asked if he defends torture and responds that if it is needed to save lives, he will use it.Of course! It's a simple matter of watching "24" to develop a moral standard. That's the ticket!
By the way, until this is over, this is going to happen:
U.S. network Fox announced it has postponed the upcoming January debut of its hit thriller 24 because only one-third of the episodes had been completed before the strike began Monday.Damn! I guess that means Thomas might actually have to crack open his Christian Bible and re-read the entire New Testament. No telling what he'll come up with after that.
In the meantime Thomas can marvel at how a mouse managed to navigate a steamboat up the Mississippi River while abusing animals.
