The perspective of scale . . .

PEOPLE BELIEVE IN ALL SORTS OF THINGS — talking snakes, angels, free markets, Trickle-Down Theory, 72 virgins, you name it. Well, the universe we have measured and observed from the minute Planck Length to the Hubble Deep Field pictures offers a real alternative to man's illusions.

Cary and Michael Huang have built a delightful site, The Scale of the Universe 2. Simple to use, slide the scroll for scale and click on various objects as they appear. No talking snakes.

DEMOTIVATE YOURSELF

DESPAIR, INC. creates marvellous "demotivational" posters, like you see above, and have been of great comfort and reassurance to me for some years now. I love the one that proclaims, "the purpose of your life may be to serve as a warning to others", but that's just me.

Now, there are others with negative reality posters, with a wonderfully tacky approach, like DemotivateUs, with lower production values, but some points to make, like these gems:

Enjoy

This place has sure been serious lately; then again, there's lots to be serious about. Then again, there's Wrong Side of the Art. It's a neat site that proclaims its dedication to "Horror, sci-fi, exploitation, cult, trash, B-movie posters".
