Dear Globe and Mail

Have I told you how much you are not a national newspaper and nothing but another Toronto tabloid?

No?

Must have been busy that day. You can't cut what you can't see.

I'm with POGGE.

  1. I'm disappointed that Rick Salutin is gone from the G&M. I wonder if Salutin's firing had to do with the Globe's print redesign that includes colour on every page. With full colour, advertising will become more expensive. Only the high-end business and other groups will be able to afford to advertise.

The Globe and Mail knows that it will likely get fewer print readers in the long run. Instead of broadening its appeal to get more readers, it has chosen to narrow-cast to an upper-middle income group. Unfortunately, for Rick Salutin, he doesn't appeal to upper-income readers--and the Globe probably believes that he wouldn't appeal to high-end advertisers.

  2. Now we have two right leaning newspapers which profess to be of national stature.

One having been unabashedly so for a lovely long time but which is now being more critical of the Conservative government than the one that has been pretending to be centrist for the past million iterations but which gives the Conservatives a ringing endorsement.

All in a country that erroneously mythologizes itself as being centre left leaning.

It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world.

  3. Shit here in the center there is now only The Star. I'm very disappointed with the G&M but I don't buy it and won't buy it though I give them my web eyes for advertising $.
