"American leadership is both good for America and good for the world"
The Project for the New American Century may have officially passed on but its neo-Con spirit lives on : Zalmay Khalilzad is said to be preparing to run for the presidency of Afghanistan.

Khalilzad : Protégé of Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan (11/2003 - 6/2005), U.S. Ambassador to Iraq (6/2005 - 3/2007), current U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., past lobbyist for the Taliban, risk analyst for Unocal to build a proposed 890-mile natural gas pipeline project running from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan, and signatory to the infamous 1998 PNAC letter to President Clinton urging him to invade Iraq and topple Saddam Hussein.

A political analyst in Afghanistan said, "His close connection with the US government is actually in his favour. Many see Karzai as a US puppet anyway, so the feeling is, why not have someone who has got some actual influence in Washington, and can do some good for Afghanistan?"
