Goldberg on Canada. Don't get it on your shoe.

So, Jonah Goldberg couldn't stem the flow of diarrhea. In his latest attempt to emulate his unbelievably hideous mother, the consummate chicken-shit of the neo-con elite lets loose in NRO with a blast at Canada for being "nice".

It wouldn't matter much except that Goldberg, as usual, doesn't bother with facts and changes the context of quotes to suit his purpose.

... maybe I should have had American bombers stand down and suggested instead that Islamic terrorists plot to behead the Canadian prime minister and blow up a few important buildings.

"Maybe I should have ..."? Given the current presidential administration of the US we are all aware that it is possible for a horse's ass to possess the reins of military power. However, it requires one at least run in an election. Barring that, actual presence in the military with the appropriate authority is required. Goldberg is a chickenhawk. Never ran for office and not one minute of military service. Goldberg couldn't call for water from a buck private.

Canada is arguably the most deluded industrialized nation in the world. Because elite Canadians think the U.S. is the font of the world's problems, they think being different than the U.S. and sucking up to the United Nations will buy them grace on the cheap.

No... the most deluded industrialized nation in the world is the one which is led by a bunch of clowns who think they can solve every problem with smart bombs. The deluded ones are those who believe they can spread democracy from the barrel of a gun. Canadians generally don't believe in that process and would rather exhaust all possible avenues of diplomacy. The deluded ones are those who claim to be willing to "go it alone" and then issue dares in the form of "bring it on". The deluded ones are those who, after turning their back on world opinion and condemnation go crawling to the UN asking for the help of other nations in an effort to clean up a mess. Canada didn't go crawling to the UN, but you don't have to look far from Ottawa to see who did. Who's sucking up now, Goldberg?

They claim to be a nation of peacekeepers, but they rank 50th among U.N. peacekeeper nations in the number of troops sent.

Absolutely correct. Now tally up the NATO missions. In fact, count the number of peacekeeping missions in which Canada was a major player but there was a distinct lack of US involvement. Canada has the second highest casualty rate of any UN country engaged in peacekeeping. India is first. That's nothing to be proud of, but it comes from being there.

They've bravely contributed to the war in Afghanistan, where 2,300 troops still serve, but refused to join the effort in Iraq, believing that jihadists would honor such fine distinctions.

Horseshit! There is no such belief and that is not why Canada did not follow Bush into Iraq. The reason is that the US had no reason to start a war with Iraq. In fact, the Bush administration invented intelligence and downright lied to convince its own population and the world to go to war. The less deluded countries didn't buy into the scam. Or have you suddenly found those weapons of mass destruction in your Depends™, Jonah?

The presence of a profoundly evil, homegrown terror cell in Canada has understandably provoked a lot of soul-searching to our north.

Profoundly evil? What has this guy been sucking up his nose? They were a bunch of rank amateurs! They were incredibly stupid and the authorities had been monitoring them for two years.

What soul-searching? The right-wingers are busy wetting their pants. Anybody with a brain has shrugged it off and complimented the authorities for damned good police work. We do the same thing when they take out a chapter of the Hell's Angels. Our cops don't ignore the signs of criminal activity.

As the American Enterprise Institute's Reuel Marc Gerecht and the French intellectual Olivier Roy have suggested, multiculturalism in many ways breeds Islamic radicalism among deracinated "born-again" Muslims in the West. It foments the climate of grievance and honors the quest for radical authenticity. Indeed, jihadism imports any number of Marxist and anti-colonial bugaboos into its worldview and then spits them back out at the West. "This militant evolution is happening, in situ, on our territory. It partakes henceforth of the internal history of the West," Roy observed.

What?!

Reuel Marc Gerecht is a member of the Project for the New American Century and rabid anti-Arab. He was promoting war with Iraq, Iran and Syria before 9/11. Gerecht has also been seen all over US talk shows defending any and all Bush administration policies. Why didn't Goldberg just find a quote from his mother?

Olivier Roy is a much better source of information but Goldberg, quite intentionally it seems, changed the context of Roy's statement. Here's what Roy actually said:

"When we consider the [Islamic] movements that embrace violence, we can see that they are not expressions of an outburst in the West of the [Israeli-Palestinian] conflict in the Middle East. Most of the young Muslims radicalize in the West: They are "born-again Muslims." It's here that they are Islamicized. Almost all separate from their families and many have marriages with non-Muslims. Their dispute with the world isn't imported from the Middle East: It is truly modern, aimed against American imperialism, capitalism, etc. In other words, they occupy the same space that the proletarian left had thirty years ago, that Action Directe had twenty years ago. . . . They exist in a militant reality abandoned by the extreme left, where the young live only to destroy the system. . . . [This radicalization] isn't at all the consequence of a "clash of civilizations," that is to say, the importation of intellectual frameworks coming from the Middle East. This militant evolution is happening, in situ, on our territory. It partakes henceforth of the internal history of the West."

Goldberg's version fails to take into account the direction of Roy's thinking. Where Goldberg is demanding that Muslim Arabs are directing the thoughts of "home-grown" extremists, Roy is clearly saying otherwise. Bad, bad Jonah. Behaving just like his mother, again.

You can read the rest of Goldberg's tripe if you're so inclined. Keep in mind that this smug, self-congratulatory little prick has all the worldy experience of a blow-fly and the same affinity for putrefying meat. He is, after all, a shameless Bush cheerleader.
