Bye Bye Boom Boom

Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion died today at the age of 75. The legendary hockey player leaves behind wonderful memories for millions of hockey fans.

Geoffrion was the second player in NHL history to score 50 goals in a season and was the winner of the Hart Trophy, the Art Ross Trophy and the Calder Trophy. During his tenure with the Montreal Canadiens, he won six Stanley Cups. In 1972 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Boom Boom was know for his slapshots and it's how he acquired his nickname. During his early years, while trying to perfect his shot, he would practice for hours on end. He was notorious for missing the net with his practice slapshots and slamming the puck into the boards with a resounding BOOM! The name stuck.

Bye bye Boom Boom. Thanks for the memories.
