Baghdad Burning that details daily life in Baghdad, complete with complaints about lack of electricity, high food prices due to high gasoline costs (and a very funny exchange between the writer and her local vegetable vendor), etc. At the end, she concludes:
I guess the Iraqis who thought the US was going to turn Iraq into another
America weren’t really far from the mark- we too now enjoy inane leaders,
shady elections, a shaky economy, large-scale unemployment and soaring gas
prices.
