Your conservative view of rights in a nutshell

"Picture by picture these criminals are being identified and arrested and we will not let any phony concerns about human rights get in the way of the publication of the pictures and the arrest of these individuals."

There was absolutely no need to make a such a comment about human rights, but he really couldn't help himself, could he? Tough guy.

What is it with Conservatives and "phony" human rights?

It's probably because conservatives can not bring themselves to use the term "human rights" without adding the "phony" adjective.

They've never had a history of championing human rights but they can sure use their jackboots to give 'em a good kick . . . .

That's nothing. The Globe and Mail today said "The prime minister’s facing pressure to improve monitoring on the treatment of workers owned by Canadian investors there" about Honduras. The mask slips, as the desire to return to feudal Britain (or worse) is expressed in their writing.

He needs to make a lot of noise or people will remember he ought to be in prison himself. "No mercy" Cameron was "everyone deserves a second chance" Cameron when it came to excusing his hiring of one of Murdoch's lickspittles with a criminal record.
