Here we are again

Here we are again with yet another failing of our stupid bloody simpleton's understanding of justice and the system we built around it. With all the research we have the shows the complex biological and social roots of deviant behaviour, the best we can still do for those who stray is lock them in boxes somewhere out of sight.

Even without what appears to be an appalling display of neglect and incompetence on the part of prison staff, who actually benefits from separating the mother from the child just to keep her in prison? The mother? I can't begin to imagine how she must feel right now. The child? Evidence suggests post-partum mother-child bonding is absolutely critical to normal social development.

As far as I can tell the only people really benefiting from this are the commenters on the CBC report who feel better having brayed righteously about how the mother should not broken the law if she didn't want to give birth in jail.

The comments on the CBC website make me sad for this country.

Ugh, what is wrong with people today? It's like bullying and braying is the norm and f*ck the consequences. It used to be that the media would give voice to thoughtful, experts from organizations like the Elizabeth Fry or John Howard societies. Instead it's a go for the jugular attitude that's on display.

It's all about punishment these days. Rehabilitation is not very popular.

And the innocent -- the baby -- are punished.

I was absolutely horrified by Canadians comments, regarding this prison birth.

What kind of a barbaric country do we live in? What kind of barbarians, have Canadian citizens turned into? That prison mother damned near died, from bleeding to death. That was a breach baby to boot. The mother needed units of blood, to save her life. Damned fortunate the baby survived the breach birth, with no attendance.

We all yelled like hell, when Harper was involved in the torture, of the detainee's. We yell like hell over, Harper supporting Red China and their miserable Human Rights.

We are furious, Afghanistan is now beheading children for punishment.

We are furious a young Pakistani girl was shot, who wanted peace in her country. She only wanted girls like her to be safe and, to be permitted to go to school, with no danger.

We hate country's that believe in honor killings.

Well, all of those country's are permitted to live in Canada. Even the Chinese triad, was allowed into Canada. So were terrorists. Remember, the Air India bombing?

However, a mother in prison deserved to die and to hell with her, and her baby's life too.

T.F.B. for that mother and her baby. They deserved everything they got. Sounds like the Taliban to me.

Wow, I forced myself to go through the comments section and I'm truly disgusted by the overwhelming tenor of those remarks. Harper said we wouldn't recognize Canada when he was through with it. Seems that was an understatement. For 60-years I truly loved my country. Much less so today. What are we becoming?
