"As the Prime Minister [David Cameron] said when addressing the Canadian parliament last year: 'We are two nations, but under one Queen and united by one set of values,'" Hague said in a written statement to CBC News."Great" wars and Anglospheric bullshit, it's all trans-Atlantic Tories trading in other people's blood.
"We have stood shoulder to shoulder from the great wars of the last century to fighting terrorists in Afghanistan and supporting Arab Spring Nations like Libya and Syria. We are first cousins."
Incidently, the back inside cover of your Canadian passport already says Canadians are able to use British missions in the absence of a Canadian one. It doesn't state it, but Canada also has agreements with Australia to similar effect.
Unless this is a return to the days of visa-free right-to-work and shared passports, this is simply an enhancement of existing diplomatic arrangements.

Much rather Canada be doing something positive with Britain than always falling in lockstep with the Americans.
Britain wants to revive the old Commonwealth that they ditched to court the E.U. Now that the U.K. is on the outs with the Euros and some pundits predict they may part ways, London wants the old gang back.
I can't see how the U.K. could handle that sort of upheaval. With so much of its economy and industrial base deeply integrated with Europe's, walking away could be a very painful split up.
No this is justification for all of CISIS to pack Walther PPK and drive tricked out Aston Martin DB8.
On the other hand...

There's an obvious question here, but it's much too obvious for any professional reporter to bother asking:
Given the new joint plan assumes that one country has an embassy where the other one doesn't, exactly how many embassies does Canada have in a country where Britain doesn't have one or at least some sort of interest section in place already? In round figures?
Yeah, I thought so.
