So it's the courts...

Vic Toews thinks the courts are to blame for the Toronto shooting.
"We are very concerned about the courts doing that, because illegal firearms — especially those smuggled in from the United States … minimum prison sentences are absolutely essential to create a strong deterrent against that kind of activity," Toews said in an interview with Prairie network Golden West Radio.
Yes, I'm sure the absense of a mandatory minimum is the first thing on a thugs mind when the testosterone kicks in and he feels obligated to open fire. Funny, they don't feel that way about registering firearms. Or promoting progressive social policy raises everyone's general well-being and lowers crime rates.

With Vic's Thought Police views, it is hardly surprising he would be mad about the two cases where the new mandatory minimum 3 years was not followed.

The most recent involved a guy offering top sell a handgun to an undercover cop. BUT THE GUN DID NOT EXIST! So you can be jailed for saying you have a gun? Do you stand with the child pornographers or the Thought Police?

The earlier case had a guy taking a facebook picture in which he was holding a loaded gun. It was his cousin's gun at his cousin's apartment. So you can be jailed 3 years for taking a picture of yourself holding someone else's gun. Instead, he got 1 year house arrest. Still treated seriously but Tricky Vickie says bonehead needs to spend 3 years in the big house.

Word is that Vic is aiming for a judgeship. Pity those who will have to appear before him.
